Zinc chromate primer was used in the American aircraft industry during the Second World War as an anti-corrosion coating for internal structures, wheel wells, frames and unpainted internal surfaces. The characteristic yellow-green is clearly visible in open cockpits, wheel wells and on the inner faces of covers.
