Responsibility details are not available.
A model of one of the objects of the Czechoslovak border fortifications, rendered in 1:1000 scale. The range it belongs to has a clear purpose: to get a whole section of the defenses into a display case or onto a single board. While in 1:35 scale a single object with its terrain takes up half a shelf, in 1:1000 a whole group of structures fits side by side together with the landscape between them. The model thus works more as topographic information than as a display of detail, and that is exactly why collectors of the range buy several pieces at a time.
Object K-S 5 carries the cover name U potoka, meaning by the stream, a name derived from a prominent feature in the surroundings. A watercourse was an essential fact when fortifications were being built: it changed the conditions of the terrain and affected both the founding of the structure and the fields of view from it. The objects of the Kraliky section were built in the second half of the 1930s and were laid out so as to follow on from one another.
If you set the model into a diorama with a watercourse, deal with the water surface last of all, after the object and the terrain have been painted. Clear modeling resin or a thick acrylic gel applied in several thin layers works well; one heavy layer shrinks and pulls away from the banks. Make the banks darker and damper than the surrounding soil and blur the transition with pigment. Paint the object itself separately and glue it down only onto finished terrain. In 1:1000 scale it is essential to keep the grit fine, because coarse grass or gravel gives away at once that the proportions are wrong.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
