The object T-S 1b Kota B in 1:1000 scale

The model captures an object designated T-S 1b with the code name Kota B. The suffix b after the sequential number distinguishes the object from the sister T-S 1a, which is available as well. Both items are supplied as separate kits, unassembled and unpainted.

A small scale as an advantage

At the conversion of 1:1000, one millimeter of the model corresponds to one meter of the real subject. The object therefore comes out at a few centimeters and a whole arrangement of several objects fits on a board of a size that can be hung on the wall or stored in a drawer. For a modeler that means a different logic of work than in the large scales: you are not trying to catch up on detail, but to capture the correct mass, the orientation of the object and its relation to the surrounding terrain. A gross error in the outline is more visible in a small scale than a missing small element.

Building and painting tips

First line the parts up dry and check whether they sit down in one plane. Level the production residue with abrasive paper of a high grit, but do not round the edges off. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Thin the paint more than usual and apply it in three or four thin coats. Contrast helps the legibility: lighter upper surfaces, darker sides and a thin wash into the joints. If you are building a pair of objects from the same sector, paint them with the same set of shades, otherwise they will look like two different materials side by side.
