1:144 Yak-1 is a photo-etched accessory set for a plastic model of the Yak-1 fighter in 1:144 scale, an accessory to a kit you have already bought rather than the model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set is a thin sheet of nickel-plated brass with etched parts that replace or supplement the detail of a plastic kit. The set is cut for the Brengun kit and comes from the Czech maker Brengun, who has long specialized in photo-etched parts for aircraft models. It is not an aircraft kit: you have to obtain the base model separately.
Injected plastic has a technological minimum thickness that it cannot go below. In 1:144 scale that means flat features such as the instrument panel, instrument consoles, seat belts, radiator grilles, landing gear bay doors or small external recesses look coarse and oversize. Photo-etched metal runs in tenths of a millimeter and comes far closer to scale thickness. That is exactly why it pays off in the smallest scales even where a plastic part would do in a larger one.
Separate the parts with a scalpel on a hard surface rather than with nippers, as the sheet will otherwise deform. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two razor blades guided exactly along the etched fold line. Anneal stiffer pieces briefly over a flame first and let them cool, and the material will then give. Degrease the photo-etched parts with alcohol before gluing and cover them with a primer, otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth metal. They are bonded with thin super glue applied with a pin, not from the tube.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
