The finest square strip of the range dimensioned for HO scale, with a section of 0.6 x 0.6 mm. Intended for lattice work, small ladders and fine frames.
Responsibility details are not available.
Six tenths of a millimeter on both sides is the limit beyond which the material behaves more like wire than like a strip. Even so it stays polystyrene, so it can be glued like the rest of a build and needs no special surface preparation. The range it comes from is graded so that the sections correspond to real sawn profiles converted into HO scale.
Work on a light surface, otherwise a piece will disappear before you manage to pick it up. Cut it on glass or a cutting mat with one decisive press of a new blade, because a worn edge tends to crush the strip instead. Use tweezers with fine jaws for handling and dose the cement with the tip of a brush, since a drop of the usual size floods material this thin and deforms it.
It serves for truss bracing, the rungs of ladders, the grilles above windows and instrument frames, and also for suggesting fine trim strips on a car body or on the facade of a building. In railroad modeling it is used to build structures that would be needlessly stiff in metal.
The material is white, bare and unpainted, and the finished look comes only from the paint.
Truss structures are best assembled over a drawn plan. Lay a transparent film over the drawing so that the build does not stick to it, place the individual parts on it along the lines and make the joints only once the whole pattern is assembled. Only then peel the finished piece off carefully.
Clear away the offcuts as you go. Pieces of this size get lost in the seams of a mat, lodge in the carpet and then turn up stuck in the middle of a fresh surface during the next painting session.
