Stencils for spraying the glazing of the cannon-armed Hurricane Mk IIC in the large 1:24 scale. The leaner variant with two shapes for national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
While the early Hurricane carried eight machine guns of 7.7 mm, the IIC version received four twenty-millimeter Hispano cannons in the wing. The weight of a burst thus doubled and the machine stopped being a pure day fighter. It found its use as a night intruder over occupied France, as an attack aircraft on Malta and in Burma, and with the help of the Merlin XX engine it kept sufficient performance at greater altitudes as well.
In appearance the IIC is told from the earlier examples above all by a longer forward fuselage, by cannon fairings protruding from the leading edge and, on the night machines, by an all-black finish on which every imperfect edge around the cockpit frames shows without mercy. In a large scale the division between the metal and the fabric covering of the fuselage moreover stands out, and a decal never settles over it entirely smoothly.
This item represents the narrower of the two forms of the set. A pair of shapes covers the glass from both sides and with them only two parts for the national insignia are added, so it is the leaner choice for a builder who deals with the rest of the markings his own way.
A black finish calls for a different technique from light camouflage: spray a thin gray layer first as a base for the frames and only then the top shade. The frame will then not stay grayish even after the shape is removed.
