An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese maker Hasegawa in a limited edition. The subject is the sporting version of the second-generation Isuzu Gemini compact car, introduced in 1988 under the designation ZZ handling by Lotus. The finished model measures around seventeen centimeters, so it fits into an ordinary display case beside other cars in 1:24 scale. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Isuzu Gemini of the JT190 generation was a compact car with front-wheel drive which became popular in Japan at the end of the 1980s precisely thanks to its sharper versions. The top of the range was the ZZ variant, whose chassis was tuned by the British marque Lotus, at that time part of the General Motors group, that is of the group with which Isuzu cooperated. The result was a light car with a reputation for exceptionally precise steering, which to this day keeps its cult standing among enthusiasts of Japanese cars of the 1980s. In the modeling world it is at the same time a fairly rare subject, which is practically not to be found outside Japanese makers.
Spray the body separately from the interior and the chassis. Car models stand or fall by their paint: a base, two or three thin coats of color, a gloss clear coat and polishing once dry give a result that forgives small shortcomings. The window frames and the trim come out best painted with a fine brush after the body has been lacquered. Shade the interior in several tones, otherwise it looks flat; emphasize the seats with drybrushing. Leave the wheels and the tires matte and remove the flash from the rims, because it is easy to see once they are fitted. Apply the decals over a gloss surface and cover them with a final coat of varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
