This figure of a muscular man sitting quietly and drinking beer belongs to the civilian Muscle Man range from the manufacturer MAiM in 1:24 scale. It is exactly such everyday snapshots that turn a technical model into a genre picture, and the scene suddenly has a main character and the mood of a lazy afternoon.
A seated pose needs something to rest on: a bench, a low wall, a drum, steps or a crate. The figure fits superbly into a garage scene beside a car under construction in 1:24 scale, on the threshold of a workshop, by a grill or on the stand of an improvised meeting. Combined with the other figures of the Muscle Man range it makes a believable little crowd, while on its own it works as a counterpoint of calm to busy surroundings.
Clean the casting up, wash it and prime it. The large areas of muscle are rewarding for practicing the layering of skin tones: a base, shadow in the hollows and gentle highlighting of the raised areas. The clothing comes out well in matte colors, and a contrasting small item can be the can or bottle in the hand, treated with gloss clear.
The figure is supplied as an unpainted casting to be cleaned up and painted. Seating furniture and other props are not included in the package.
