This item is not a model of a car but a sports muffler with a tip in 1:24 scale, which will replace the production exhaust of a car model. Yamamoto Model Parts makes a whole line of mufflers and this one is the basic version with no further variant marking, as the other pieces in the line carry an additional abbreviation in the name and have a different shape of tip. When choosing, go by precisely that, by whether there is a variant abbreviation in the name or not.
An exhaust tip is one of the few modifications that are visible on a finished model even from a distance and are recognized at first glance. Kits tend to have the exhaust simplified, often as a blind tube with no hollow mouth; a free-standing part has the mouth hollow and crisply drawn, so it adds credibility to the rear of a model at once. It suits a build of cars of the Japanese tuning scene, street conversions and cars you are building after a particular photograph.
Before painting, wash the part in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, so that no mold release agent or uncured resin is left on the surface. Cut the casting block or the print supports off with a sharp modeling scalpel, sand the surface over and protect your breathing while sanding. Try the part dry in the chassis to see whether the exhaust comes out at the right height; any difference is dealt with by shortening or lengthening the connecting pipe. Glue it with super glue. For painting, metal shades applied over a smooth glossy base work well; darken the inside of the mouth with matte black and weather the area around the tip lightly with a dark pigment, as burnt metal never stays clean.
