An accessory set from the Czech manufacturer AML for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 K-4 in 1:32 scale: resin main wheels together with masks for a clean spray job. This is not a stand-alone model; the set upgrades a kit you already have.

Why replace the wheels

On a parked aircraft the main wheels are one of the first places the eye falls on. The late versions of the Bf 109 received bulkier wheels whose shape is hard to reproduce from two-piece moldings, leaving a mold seam across the tread and soft detail on the hub. A resin casting comes in one piece, with a crisp tread pattern and a true tire profile; all it needs is cleaning up, spraying and fitting.

What the masks are for

The masks separate the hub from the tire: spray the hub color first, lay the mask on and finish the tire in dark rubber gray. The result is a sharp, even boundary without laborious brush work. Wash the castings in soapy water before painting and use cyanoacrylate glue, because ordinary plastic cement does not hold on resin.
