This is not a kit or a complete photo-etched set. The package contains a single but finished part: the instrument panel for the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-5 in 1:32 scale. The panel is etched from thin sheet and printed in color at the factory, so the dials, scales and labels are legible without a single stroke of a brush. That sets it apart from classic photo-etched sets, where the parts have to be sprayed and the instruments completed with decals or patient painting.
The Fw 190 was a single-seat low-wing fighter with a BMW radial engine, a wide-track landing gear and a cockpit with a good view. The A-5 version differed from earlier forms in its lengthened engine mounting, which moved the center of gravity and made room for further equipment. The cockpit was compact compared with other fighters of the day, and the instrument panel in it is the dominant visible element, especially in the large 1:32 scale with the canopy open.
Remove the original plastic panel from the kit, or thin it down to the thickness at which the etched part seats at the right depth. Separate the part from the fret with a sharp cutter on a hard surface, not with pliers. Level any burrs with a fine file and take care not to scratch the printed face. Glue it with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, because any surplus would run onto the dials. You can create a glazing effect with a drop of gloss varnish or clear-part glue on each instrument.
This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
