This set from the Polish brand MASTER contains a turned metal pitot tube and 20 mm cannon barrels for models of the Northrop F-5 aircraft in 1:32 scale. It is intended for versions with the classic, unenlarged nose, that is for the F-5A versions and the corresponding F-5E and F-5F machines. It is not a kit of an airplane, but a metal accessory with which you replace the plastic parts on a model.
The Northrop F-5 is a light supersonic fighter aircraft with two jet engines, designed as a simple type undemanding in service. The older single-seat machines carried the designation Freedom Fighter, the modernized line the name Tiger II. The cannon armament is housed in the forward part of the fuselage and its muzzles emerge at the sides of the nose. In 1:32 scale the model is several tens of centimeters long, so every detail in the forward part of the fuselage comes to the fore — the barrel muzzles and the pitot tube are among the elements a viewer notices first.
The large scale makes the work easier: the holes are more comfortable to drill and the metal parts are easier to hold. Cut the plastic stub off, level the area and drill the hole with a micro drill bit in steps. Glue the metal with cyanoacrylate glue; on larger parts two-part epoxy also works well, as it leaves time for lining things up. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint will peel during handling. If you want to keep the natural metallic look of the barrel muzzles, mask them over while spraying and finally seal them with a matte clear coat.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
