This is a photo-etched metal detail set (vol.2, add-on), not a kit for the whole vehicle. The set replaces the plastic fenders with thin metal parts of true profile and adds their metal fittings, brackets and edging. It serves as an add-on for a model of the T-55A medium tank in 1:35 scale and follows on from the basic photo-etched range.
The T-55A was a Soviet medium tank, a later development of the T-54/55 family from the Cold War. It was armed with a 100 mm gun and became one of the most widespread tanks in the world, fielded by dozens of armies. Thin metal fenders, which bent and took damage easily on these tanks, markedly raise the realism of the model.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a glass surface and form the bends on a photo-etch bending tool. The fenders can be gently curved and given deformations for a more realistic effect. To bond metal to plastic, use cyanoacrylate or epoxy glue, and apply a metal primer before painting.
This is a detail set, not a vehicle model. The base kit, glue, paints and other parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
