This product is not a kit of a vehicle. It is a set of photo-etched metal parts for an already purchased plastic kit of the German Panzer IV Ausf.H medium tank in the guise of the early and mid production runs. The designation Value is used by the maker for a fuller package, which goes further in detail than the basic version and covers the hull and the superstructure to a greater extent.
Basic photo-etched sets usually stick to the most conspicuous surfaces, that is the fenders and the grilles over the engine bay. The extended package also reaches other areas where the thickness of plastic shows most: the small fittings on the hull, the plating and covers, the brackets and clamps, and the details of the turret. The result is a model that, seen close up, has none of the soft, rounded edges typical of injection-molded plastic. The metal parts can also be bent into a real position, so hatches can be opened or a damaged fender suggested.
The Panzer IV Ausf.H was the most numerous production version of the German medium tank. It carried a long-barreled 75 mm gun and had thicker frontal armor than the older versions. It reached the units from 1943 onwards and served until the end of the war. The vehicle changed continuously during production, which is why early, mid and late examples differ in the running gear, the exhaust and the small equipment on the hull, and detailing sets are distinguished accordingly.
Nip the parts out with photo-etch scissors and never tear them out. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is sharp. Glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); cement for plastic does not hold on metal. First remove the original molded detail from the plastic and true the surface up. Work in sections and let the glue cure properly, otherwise the parts already attached will come loose. Degrease the metal and spray it with a primer. A dark wash and fine drybrushing will pull out the grilles and the fittings, and pigments will fill in dust and mud.
This is a detailing set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
