The maps bring command posts, tables, vehicle hoods and the hands of figures planning an operation to life. They help to tell the story of a scene and to set it in a particular period and theater. The drawing and the lettering are printed legibly and in the matching scale.
Cut the map out and, for realistic folds, fold it or crumple it lightly, or dampen it and shape it over a base. Fix it with thin white (PVA) glue. Tone the edges and give the surface a matte finish with varnish, so that the paper does not shine. A weak wash gives the map a worn look.
