1:35 M4 Sherman mid production — photo-etched sand shields are an add-on set for a plastic kit you already own, not a standalone model. The thin brass strips replace the coarser plastic shields above the tracks, and the set is cut for the Dragon 6511 and 6579 kits.

This set from Voyager Model holds brass photo-etched sand shields over the running gear for a model of the American M4 medium tank of the mid-production batch. It is not a kit of the tank but an accessory for the Dragon 6511 and 6579 plastic models.
The sand shields above the tracks on Shermans were of thin sheet and were fitted to brackets riveted or welded to the side of the hull. In the field they were often bent and deformed, or sections were lost altogether, so the vehicles in period photographs all look different from one another. A model with metal shields can carry that variability, whereas plastic parts of the same thickness would crack when bent.
The shields are long and narrow, that is the shape most easily rippled. Separate them with a scalpel against a glass or steel surface, never with scissors. Make the bends of the rims in a bending tool along the whole length at once; if you do not have a bending tool, clamp the part between two steel rulers and fold the rim over with a third. Before gluing, lay the part on dry and check that it holds a straight line along the whole side, and if need be straighten it by smoothing it under a ruler. Glue gradually from one end and let each stretch dry, otherwise you will draw the part into a curve. Add controlled deformation only after it is fitted, so that it looks convincing.
This is an add-on set for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
