An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian heavy cruiser Gorizia in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter. Gorizia belonged to the Zara class, regarded as some of the best Italian heavy cruisers. The set holds fifteen sprues including the hull and the deck, photo-etched parts and finely rendered deck detail; the finished model measures roughly 55 cm in length.
Gorizia was the third unit of the Zara class. The Zara cruisers carried a main armament of eight 203 mm guns and were notable for heavy armor. During the Second World War Gorizia took part in a number of operations in the Mediterranean. The Zara class suffered heavy losses in the night battle off Cape Matapan in 1941; Gorizia escaped on that occasion and served on.
Use a thin cement on the plastic and sand the fine seams. Spray the hull and the superstructures with an airbrush; Italian cruisers carried light gray finishes and sometimes conspicuous recognition stripes on the forecastle, so check the period scheme. Glue the photo-etched railings with cyanoacrylate after the base finish. Accent the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
