A set of self-adhesive stencils for a model of the UAZ-3909 off-road utility vehicle in 1:43 scale. The stencils are applied to a dry coat and define the areas that are to be sprayed in a different shade, so that the dividing line between the colors comes out exactly and identically on both sides of the vehicle. These are stencils for spraying, not decals.
In 1:43 scale the individual pieces of the stencil are often only a few millimeters across. Lifting them out of the sheet with your fingers is almost impossible, so have a sharp scalpel and fine-tipped tweezers ready. Lift the piece with the tip of the blade and carry it with the tweezers straight to its place. Once a mask touches the surface it is hard to move, so lay it on only lightly at first, check the position and only then press it down.
The body of this type of vehicle has markedly rounded fenders and corners. Lay the stencil onto them in sections and, at a place of greater curvature, stretch it slightly so that it does not ripple. Apply the paint in really thin coats, because in a small scale a heavy layer of paint looks coarse and covers the molded detail. Lift the stencil off while the paint is fresh, at an acute angle and slowly. Any seepage is repaired at this scale with a fine brush of one or two bristles.
The stencils are a modeling accessory. The kit, the paints and the clear coat are not included in the package.
