A sheet of wet decals for the Bell-Boeing MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor in 1:48 scale. The second installment of the series offers four particular machines: three from the Marine Corps and one in air force service.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Osprey has two rotating nacelles at the wingtips. On takeoff the rotors point upwards and the machine behaves like a helicopter; after the transition to level flight they tilt forward and the rotors become giant propellers. The result is range and speed a helicopter cannot match, together with the ability to land on a deck or in a clearing. With the United States Marine Corps it replaced older transport helicopters, and with the US Air Force it serves special operations.
The sheet carries markings for four particular aircraft. Three of them belong to Marine Corps squadrons with the designations VMM-365, VMM-362 and VMM-363, and the fourth is a machine of the 7th Special Operations Squadron of the US Air Force. Each option has its own serial number, so the model corresponds to one documented machine rather than to a generic form of the type.
These are classic wet decals. The base has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise matte edges will appear under the film. The cut-out motif is soaked, left to rest, moved into place and the surplus water is blotted away. On riveted and complex surfaces a decal softener will help, and once dry everything is sealed with varnish. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package: the sheet is an accessory for a model you build yourself.
