The Hauler 1:48 engraved photo-etched plate with the MODERN A pattern is an accessory for a kit you have already bought, not a model in its own right. From a metal sheet 100x50 mm in format you cut out exactly the piece with which you want to replace a coarsely molded surface on a model.

An engraved plate is semi-finished material for detailing models under way: a thin metal sheet 100x50 mm in overall format, into which a regular pattern is etched over the whole area. It is not a kit or a finished part for a particular place - you lay the plate out and cut it yourself to the shape of the area you need to redo on a model. The pattern designated as MODERN A is based on surfaces used on contemporary vehicles.
Injection-molded plastic has its limits. Mesh, a non-slip layer or perforated sheet cannot be molded so that they look credible in 1:48 scale - they always come out too thick and with soft detail. Metal with an etched pattern solves that problem: once glued on it has the correct thickness, sharp edges, and under paint it behaves like a real surface. From one plate you can usually cover several areas, because it is you and not the manufacturer who decides how the parts are laid out.
Cut the plate with sharp photo-etch shears or with a scalpel against a metal surface, and never with nippers for plastic - those bend the metal and go blunt. Level the edges with a fine file or with abrasive paper and water. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and apply a primer meant for metal, or the paint will peel once dry. It is bonded with super glue, preferably the thicker gel, which gives time to seat the part. If you need to bend the plate into a curve, briefly heating it over a flame helps: the metal anneals, softens and stops springing back.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
