The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-engine fighter of the late 1930s. Its construction was mixed: a lattice fuselage frame with covering, largely fabric on the early machines, and an all-metal wing on the later versions. Compared with the all-metal fighters of its day it was easier to repair in field conditions. Besides the fighter role, the machine was also used as a fighter-bomber and in a naval version modified for operation from ships.
