An injection-molded plastic kit of the British fighter Hawker Tempest Mk.V, production series 2, in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard of Obrnice near Most. It is the Weekend edition — the simpler variant for a quick build. The box contains plastic parts and decals with four marking options, but it does not contain photo-etched parts or painting masks. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Hawker Tempest Mk.V was one of the best-performing British fighters of the end of the Second World War. Thanks to the powerful Napier Sabre engine it was among the fastest piston fighters at low level, it was heavily armed with four 20 mm cannon and it became famous for successfully hunting German V-1 missiles and for combats with the late German aircraft. The designation series 2 corresponds to the later production form with the shorter cannon barrels recessed into the leading edge of the wing.
Use a thin modeling cement on the plastic and try the joints dry beforehand. Because the Weekend edition has no masks, mask the canopy glazing with masking tape or add a set of masks. The typical camouflage is the British upper green and gray with a lighter underside and, where appropriate, invasion stripes — follow the scheme you have chosen. Pick out the panel lines with a wash, suggest the exhaust staining and apply the decals over a gloss clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
