An injection-molded plastic kit of the Curtiss P-40N fighter aircraft in 1:48 scale, issued by the Hobby 2000 brand as a boxing of its own focused on the China-Burma-India theater. The model is intended to be assembled and painted by the modeler. The exact contents of the box, that is the number of parts, the decal schemes and any accessories, are given on the box and in the enclosed instructions.
The Curtiss P-40 was a single-seat low-wing fighter of all-metal construction with a liquid-cooled Allison V12 engine and the characteristic radiator under the nose. The P-40N version belonged to the last large-series forms: with it the designers sought to lower the weight and improve the rate of climb, modified the cooling and on some of the machines reduced the fuselage spine behind the cockpit together with the glazing, which markedly improved the pilot's view to the rear. On the China-Burma-India theater the P-40s were used not only as fighters but also for attacks on ground targets, for which their durable structure and ability to carry stores suited them.
Finish and paint the cockpit before you glue the fuselage halves together; once it is closed you will no longer get into it. The quickest way to mask the canopy frames is with strips of adhesive tape or with ready-made masks. Try the wing-to-fuselage transition dry and fill any gaps with a thin filler, which can be smoothed with a cotton bud moistened with thinner. Apply a gloss varnish before the decals, apply the decals once it has dried and finally even the surface out with a matte or semi-matte varnish. Only then does a fine accentuation of the panel lines and of wear on the leading edges follow.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
