A clean surface decides more than on older machines

A model of a modern fighter is painted mostly in gray shades with soft transitions and a flat sheen. Such a finish shows every fingerprint, adhesive residue and tiny fiber under the mask without mercy. Before masking, therefore, wash the model in lukewarm soapy water, let it dry and do not touch it with bare hands again. After the mask is removed, check the edge against the light: if a faint sticky film has stayed, remove it with a cotton swab moistened in alcohol and only lightly, so that the matte clear coat is not polished. Spray the transitions between shades at a distance from the mask or over a masking edge raised above the surface, so that the boundary is not crisp where in reality it is not crisp.

How to use the set

• Wash and degrease the model before masking, then handle it in gloves.
• Carry the masks with tweezers and press the edge down with a blunt point.
• Spray the gray shades thinly, otherwise the edge of the mask will imprint itself into the surface.
• Make a soft transition with the mask raised and a crisp one right along the edge.
• Remove adhesive residue with alcohol on a cotton swab, not with thinner.
