Missile R-98MT AA-3D Anab is a resin set of the Soviet infrared-guided air-to-air missile in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel, an ideal way to add armament to a model of an interceptor.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin accessory from the workshop of the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel captures the Soviet R-98MT air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory of armament; under the wings of a model of a Soviet interceptor it creates, together with the radar version, the typical combat configuration. The castings in fine resin faithfully convey the slender body of the missile with its characteristic infrared head.
From the 1960s the R-98 series of missiles formed the backbone of the armament of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-15 interceptors. The modernized R-98M version of the 1970s improved both range and reliability. The R-98MT variant, AA-3 Anab in the NATO reporting system, carried passive infrared guidance; the missile homed on the heat emission of the engines of the target itself, so after launch it no longer needed support from the radar on board. Soviet tactics prescribed launching the radar and the heat version in pairs for a higher probability of a hit.
Before building, wash the parts free of the remains of the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off carefully and sand the marks down; protect your airways while sanding resin. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue. The surface was usually sprayed light gray or white; the clear head of the sensor can be imitated with a drop of gloss varnish or a dark metallic shade.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
