The masking set for the road wheels of the T-34-85 tank in 1:48 scale deals with the tire bands of the large discs of Christie suspension. The set is cut for the Tamiya kits.

This is an accessory for painting, not a kit. The masks cover the areas of the road wheels while spraying, so that a sharp border is created between the tire band and the rim. In shape the set is tied to the Tamiya kits.
The late version with the larger turret rides on the same Christie suspension as the earlier forms: five large wheels on each side, a more pronounced gap between the first and the second, the drive sprocket at the rear and no return rollers. The difference from the earlier machines is in the wheels themselves. During the war several forms of disc alternated on this type, from solid ones through lightened ones with cutouts to a form with a minimum of rubber, and wheels of different types commonly appeared on one vehicle at the same time. A concrete task follows from that for the modeler: look at which wheels are in your kit and mask them according to their actual shape, because the tire band on a lightened disc looks different from one on a solid disc. It is precisely the divided discs that are hardest to manage by hand, because the edge of the tire band is lost in the cutouts by turns.
Before you reach for paint, lay the masks dry on the wheels from the sprue and go through them one by one. Then wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and degrease them; on large discs a fingerprint shows reliably. A thin primer evens the surface out and highlights any sanding marks, which are better leveled now than after painting. Lay out the assembly of the chassis so that the wheels are finished and unmasked before you fit the tracks, or you will not reach the lower tire bands.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
