The Russian R-27T AA-10 Alamo-B missile in 1:48 scale — a resin replica of the air-to-air guided missile with infrared homing for arming models of Soviet fighters, from Plus Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from the aviation range of the Czech manufacturer Plus Model brings a resin replica of the Soviet R-27T air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft; it is a weapons accessory with which you arm and liven up a model of the fighter on which this missile really served.
The R-27 family of missiles, designated AA-10 Alamo in the NATO reporting system, came about in the Vympel design bureau as armament for Soviet fourth generation fighters. The R-27T version (Alamo-B) carries a passive infrared seeker head; after launch it homes on the heat contrast of the target itself and, unlike its radar-guided sister the R-27R, needs no further support from the radar of the carrier aircraft. The typical carriers were the MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters, under whose wings the missiles hung on pylons.
Wash the resin castings in warm soapy water before work, cut the casting blocks off carefully and sand the marks left by them down with fine abrasive paper. Join the parts with cyanoacrylate glue. When painting, follow period photographs; Soviet missiles tended to have a light gray-white finish that comes out nicely under a fine dark wash bringing the parting lines and the details out.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
