This set is a resin accessory for the wing gun bays of a plastic kit of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IXc fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail set that makes it possible to show the wing with the gun bays exposed. The c-type wing carried mixed armament, that is, 20 mm cannon and 7.7 mm machine guns, and the set renders both their installation and the inner structure.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX was among the most important versions of the legendary British fighter of the Second World War. The form with the c-type wing (the universal wing) allowed various combinations of armament. Exposed gun bays are among the favorite subjects for a detailed treatment of this machine.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, separate the casting blocks and bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). To show the bays exposed it is usually necessary to cut out the relevant panels in the wing of the kit, so work carefully and keep testing the fit. Sand resin with respiratory protection. The weapons and the interior come into their own once painted and given a gentle patina.
