An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Hawker Tempest Mk.V (Series 1) fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is the popular ProfiPACK edition, which besides the plastic parts contains photo-etched parts, self-adhesive painting masks for the glazing and a decal sheet with several marking options. Color-printed photo-etched cockpit parts, for example the instrument panel and the seat harness, are usually included as well. The surface has fine engraved and riveted texture.
The Hawker Tempest Mk.V was among the highest-performing British fighters of the end of the Second World War. It grew out of the Typhoon type but received a new, thinner wing with better performance at higher speeds. Thanks to its high speed near the ground it made its name shooting down German V-1 flying bombs, and it also found a role as a fighter-bomber against ground targets. It was powered by the powerful Napier Sabre engine with its cylinders arranged in an H. The designation Series 1 corresponds to the early production form of the aircraft.
Paint the cockpit and fit the photo-etched parts before you close up the fuselage, as in this scale the interior is clearly visible. Mask the canopy glazing with the masks supplied. Cut the photo-etched parts off with a sharp knife and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. An airbrush with soft transitions suits the British camouflage schemes; lay the decals on a gloss varnish and then unify everything with a matte or semi-gloss overcoat. Even moderately advanced modelers will appreciate the work with photo-etched parts and masks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
