An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Westland Wessex HAS Mk.3 anti-submarine helicopter in 1:48 scale from Revell. The package holds parts in plastic, a clear sprue for the cabin glazing and a decal sheet. It is a proven tooling of a classic British naval machine in the larger and rewarding 1:48 scale.
The Wessex HAS Mk.3 was the anti-submarine version of the British Westland Wessex helicopter, the licensed variant of the American Sikorsky S-58. It served with the Royal Navy and its recognition feature was the prominent dorsal housing of the search radar. The machine carried detection equipment and anti-submarine armament; helicopters of this type were deployed, among other things, during the Falklands conflict of 1982.
Assemble the rotor head with the main rotor and the tail rotor, and glue the small parts with liquid cement for plastic drop by drop. Fit the clear cabin glazing only after spraying and mask the frames for clean edges. The interior and the landing gear come alive with blackening and drybrushing, and pay attention to the dorsal radar housing. We recommend a primer and a coat from an airbrush; with naval gray-blue camouflage work from the light tones toward the dark and bring out the engraved lines with a fine wash.
