Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set that captures the British Lewis Mk.I aircraft machine gun in its early aircraft form, with the front section of the cooling jacket removed, faithfully in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for superdetailing. The package holds a pair, that is two resin castings, to be built into an aircraft kit.
The Lewis was a British light machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber (.303 British) with a characteristic pan magazine on top, widely used in the First World War as the aircraft observer's flexible weapon. Cooling was provided by an aluminum finned radiator around the barrel enclosed in a tubular jacket. On aircraft the jacket was often removed, because the airflow took care of cooling and weight was saved.
This version matches the early aircraft form in which the front section of the cooling jacket is taken off, so the barrel is left exposed. The weapon suits the observers' flexible mounts of biplanes from the early and middle part of the war.
First wash the parts free of mold release agent residue, separate the casting blocks carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The metal of the weapon comes out well with a combination of dark steel, a light metallic sheen and a fine dry brush on the edges.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
