Resin figures to be painted, not a model. This set of resin castings from the Czech brand Aerobonus (Aires) in 1:48 scale contains a pair of seated pilots of the Royal Air Force (RAF) from the Second World War. The figures are shaped to be seated in the Bedford MWD truck in which pilots were carried around the airfield. They serve to enliven a diorama and are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Bedford MWD was a British 15 cwt light truck, widely used by the RAF and by ground units during the Second World War. At airfields it served among other things to carry crews out to dispersed aircraft. Seated pilots in flying suits and kit are therefore a natural complement to a model of this vehicle or to an airfield scene.
Wash the parts to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Try the pose dry before seating the figures in the truck. Apply primer before painting; an airbrush will handle the flying suit, while a brush is for the face and the details. A wash and oil shading will give the figures depth.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Glue, paints and the vehicle model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
