A calibrated brass tube with a 1.5 mm outer diameter and a 1.3 mm bore. A 305 mm length, suitable for soldered and glued details.
Responsibility details are not available.
The outer circumference measures one and a half millimeters, with a bore of one and three tenths in the middle. The wall therefore stays at a tenth of a millimeter, even though the diameter is noticeably larger than the finer sizes in the series. The standard length of the supplied piece is 305 millimeters.
A piece with an outer dimension of 1.3 millimeters, two numbers down in the range, fits precisely into the inner bore. Stacking such pairs or trios creates telescoping assemblies, transitions between diameters and reinforced pins. It is a particularly practical solution for a detachable joint between two subassemblies of a model.
Metal brings properties that extruded plastic cannot match. The edge can be chamfered to a sharp rim that looks convincing on a barrel or a nozzle, and the material holds its shape even in a thin gauge. The surface is smooth and shiny, so before painting it should be roughened with a fine abrasive and given a coat of metal primer.
It finds use across many subjects. On an aircraft it serves as a pitot tube or an exhaust stub, on vehicles as a tubular frame or cable run, and on a railway layout as a chimney or a lighting mast. A modeling saw handles cutting it, or the smallest tube cutter, which leaves a square-cut face.
Offcuts are worth keeping. Short pieces work as pins for glued joints, as spacers under moving parts, or as imitation hydraulic fittings. Sorted by diameter in a small box, they turn up exactly when a build calls for them.
