A deck masking sheet for the kit of the battleship HMS Lord Nelson in 1:700 scale, prepared in shape for the Hobby Boss 86508 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
HMS Lord Nelson belonged to the last generation of British battleships that still carried a mixed heavy armament. She entered service at the end of the first decade of the twentieth century and served during the First World War. Her silhouette is defined by tall superstructures, funnels and an extensive deck. It is precisely the deck that is the most conspicuous area on a model in 1:700 scale, so the overall impression of the finished ship rests on its separation in color.
The masking sheet is prepared for the Hobby Boss 86508 kit. The shape of the parts matches the deck of this kit, so lengthy cutting of masks to fit the model is unnecessary. The mask is stuck onto the surface before spraying, the exposed areas are sprayed and once the paint has dried the sheet is taken off.
Wash and degrease the deck before masking so that the mask holds over its whole area. Press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or the blunt tip of your tweezers so that no paint flows under them. Spray in several thin coats; a thick coat tears at the edge of the mask. Take the mask off soon after the paint has dried and pull it at an angle back over itself, not straight upwards.
It will be appreciated by anyone building a ship model in a small scale who wants a crisp transition between the deck and the steel areas with no cutting out by hand. It suits a less experienced builder as well, because the most laborious part of the painting is done away with.
The delivery contains a masking sheet for the kit named. The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
