Flyhawk — wooden deck for HMS Nelson 1944 in 1:700 scale is a set of thin wood veneer that gives a model of the British battleship a realistic wooden deck surface with a natural grain.
Responsibility details are not available.
This add-on set from the manufacturer Flyhawk holds wooden decks for a model of the British battleship HMS Nelson in her state of 1944, in 1:700 scale. The parts of thin veneer are precisely cut including the openings for the superstructures, the barbettes and the deck equipment and are laid straight onto the plastic deck parts of the kit. Real wood with a fine grain gives a model a depth that painting individual planks can hardly imitate in this scale. The set is made to measure for one particular kit — you will find its designation directly in the name of the product.
HMS Nelson had an unmistakable silhouette among battleships: all nine 406 mm guns were carried in three turrets placed ahead of the superstructure. This unusual arrangement was a consequence of the interwar treaty limits on displacement. In 1944, which the set matches, the ship took part in supporting the Normandy landings, where she shelled coastal targets with her main-caliber fire. Broad wooden decks were among the typical features of British heavy ships.
For ship modelers in 1:700 scale who are building HMS Nelson in her wartime form and want to give the decks an authentic wooden look without the drawn-out painting of planks.
This is an add-on to a kit, not a standalone model. With kits other than the one stated the parts may not line up.
