This add-on set from Fujimi holds anti-aircraft gun armament for models of Japanese warships in 1:700 scale. The more finely rendered guns will replace the simplified parts of base kits or fill out the armament on ships in a later wartime configuration. This is not a standalone model but an add-on to a ship kit.

The real subject

As the threat from the air grew, the Imperial Japanese Navy kept strengthening the anti-aircraft armament of its ships throughout the war — light guns appeared on superstructures, decks and sponsons in practically every free spot. A ship model in its late war configuration therefore needs markedly more barrels than the same type in its 1941 form.

Building and painting tips

Check the layout of the armament against period photographs and drawings of the particular ship and the year you are building. Paint the guns before fitting them and place them with tweezers using a minimum of glue. The remaining pieces come in handy as a stock for further builds.
