The Aoshima 1:700 Japanese gunboats Seta and Hira plastic kit captures small river units of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the waterline ship scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An unassembled injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese firm Aoshima in 1:700 scale. The subjects are the small gunboats Seta and Hira of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The model is rendered in the waterline concept for a water base or a diorama and is meant to be glued together and painted.
Gunboats of this type were small, shallow-draft units meant for patrol and support duties, typically on the great rivers of Asia. Thanks to their shallow draft they could operate in waters that larger ships could not reach. Their armament consisted of lighter guns and machine guns for patrolling and protecting shipping.
Given the small dimensions, take care over accuracy when gluing the small parts and use liquid cement for plastic. Spray the hull with the base shade using an airbrush and bring out the decks and the superstructures with shades and gentle highlighting of the engraved lines. Small units show at their best in an intimate diorama with a water surface. Railings can be added with separate photo-etched parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
