A supplementary set from the Czech brand CMK in 1:72 scale that replaces the control surfaces of a model of the Skyhawk attack aircraft in the A-4B and A-4Q versions. It is not an aircraft kit but a set of replacement parts: the original fixed cast surfaces are cut out of the model and replaced with more accurate parts that can be set deflected. The exact contents of the package and the number of parts are given by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set.
The Skyhawk was a light single-engined carrier-based attack aircraft with a delta wing, designed so as to do without a wing folding mechanism. Thanks to its small dimensions and low weight it suited operation from aircraft carriers well. The A-4B version was among the early forms of the type, while the designation A-4Q was carried by machines operated by Argentine naval aviation. On parked aircraft the rudders and flaps tended to be deflected in their resting position, which is a detail that gives a static model life.
Run the cut with a fine-toothed saw exactly along the engraved lines, and rather leave a reserve that you will sand down. Before you glue the surfaces on, try dry how large a deflection looks natural, because an excessively dropped rudder looks uncredible and the individual surfaces should follow on from one another logically. Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts first and cut the casting blocks off; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Fill the gap that arises at the root with filler laid on with the tip of a toothpick. Apply an undercoat before painting, so that the paint holds on the smooth surface.
