This item is not an aircraft kit. It is a resin detail set from the manufacturer CMK, which completes a model of the F-16 fighter in the upgraded MLU configuration with an elaborate gun bay in the left side of the forward fuselage. The set is intended for fitting into a plastic kit in 1:72 scale.
The F-16 carries a multi-barrel cannon housed in the fuselage behind the cockpit. On parked machines the access panel is often open, because maintenance of the weapon and the loading of ammunition are carried out through it, and it reveals the internal structure otherwise unseen. The abbreviation MLU stands for the upgrade program of European F-16 aircraft, which brought new avionics and further changes against the original configuration. An open gun bay belongs among the details by which a model stands markedly apart from an ordinary build straight from the box.
An opening has to be cut into the side of the fuselage according to the pattern, so go slowly, drill a row of holes first and join the gaps up with a knife. Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water before building, take off the casting blocks with a saw and level the areas; protect your airways when sanding resin. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the inside of the bay and bring it up before you close it into the fuselage, because later you will not get at it. The details will stand out once a wash and drybrushing are applied; the wiring and the hoses can be added with thin wire. Fit the open panel only once the paint on the whole model is finished.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
