The Fokker Dr.I in 1:72 scale: an injection-molded plastic kit of the famous German triplane of the First World War from Smer.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Fokker Dr.I fighter triplane of the First World War in 1:72 scale from Smer. The package contains gray plastic parts, clear parts and a decal sheet. Being a triplane, the build calls for careful alignment of the three lifting surfaces and for bracing them against each other with rigging.
The Fokker Dr.I was one of the best known aircraft of the First World War. Its triplane layout gave it excellent rate of climb and agility in a turning fight. It became famous above all as the machine flown by a number of German aces, and it became a symbol of the air war over the Western Front in 1917 and 1918. Although relatively few were built, it remains one of the best known aircraft of the Great War.
The most demanding part is the exact alignment of the three wings and the interplane struts: use a building jig and work patiently. Stretch the rigging from drawn sprue (stretched plastic) or from fine wire only after painting. Join the parts with thin cement for plastic, clean off the flash and treat the surface with a primer before painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
