A kit of the British Hawker Cygnet light biplane in 1:72 scale, in the form with the ABC Scorpion engine.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Cygnet was a British light two-seat biplane of the mid-1920s, designed for the light aircraft competitions of the day. Only a few were built and it became famous for its exceptionally low weight: the designers saved every gram, so the machine made do with a very weak engine. During its short career it flew with several different power units and this kit captures the form with the small ABC Scorpion piston engine.
A model in 1:72 scale is among the small builds, where all the attention is concentrated on cleanliness of shape and on the fine details of the lifting structure. The exact extent of the parts, the decals and the color schemes offered are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so read them once the box is open and before you start gluing.
On a biplane the most demanding part of the build tends to be seating the interplane struts. Work on a flat surface, support the upper wing and make sure it has the same gap and the same angle on both sides. Rigging wires belong to the build but need not be part of the package; if you want to rig them, have thin thread ready in advance. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and apply the paint in thin coats, so that the fine surfaces of the covering do not disappear.
The kit will appeal to collectors of interwar British aircraft and to modelers who like small machines with an unusual story. Paints, glue and other modeling supplies are not included, unless stated otherwise.
