The plastic kit AZ model 1:72 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-0/R-6 captures the pre-production version of the famous German fighter with underwing 20 mm gun pods and experimental butterfly tail surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic aircraft kit in 1:72 scale from AZ model. It captures the pre-production Bf 109G-0 in the R-6 fit, that is with a pair of underwing gun pods with 20 mm cannons, and in the form with experimental butterfly (V) tail surfaces. It is a short-run kit with finely engraved panel lines and decal schemes for several machines.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was the backbone of the German fighter force throughout the Second World War. The G version, nicknamed Gustav, received the more powerful Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine and became the most numerously built variant. The pre-production G-0 machines served to test new features; the R-6 fit added gun pods with cannons under the wings to strengthen the firepower against bombers. The butterfly tail surfaces were among the experiments aimed at reducing drag and improving the qualities of the aircraft.
Short-run molds call for careful clean-up of the parts and a dry fit before gluing. Use thin plastic cement, fill and sand the joints if need be. Apply a base coat (a primer) before painting, spray with an airbrush and bring out the typical German camouflage with a light emphasis on the panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
