A set of foot figures in 1:72 scale from the firm Strelets. According to the name this is American infantry captured in attack, that is, in dynamic poses of advancing forward, and the second set of the same line. The castings are of soft plastic of one color, supplied unpainted and without extra bases. The set is intended mainly as building material for a diorama or for a tabletop game, where a larger number of figures in movement is needed.

The real subject and the contents

You will judge the period placement best by the equipment and armament in the illustration on the packaging, which we recommend comparing before buying. What is certain from the name is the subject chosen: the figures are modeled in attacking poses, that is, running, lunging and with a weapon thrust forward. Such poses behave differently in a diorama from static characters, because they give the scene direction and the reader of the picture sees at once where the action is moving.

Building and painting tips

Figures in movement often stand on one leg only, so glue them to a firm base or to a disc of plastic even before painting, otherwise they will come loose at every handling. Level the sprue gate under the feet flat with a scalpel. After washing with detergent apply primer and only then paint with acrylic. With a larger number of identical figures a batch procedure pays off: all the base layers of the uniform at once, then a common dark wash into the folds and finally a dry brush on the edges. Leave the faces and the hands until the very end, because it is precisely by them that the whole work is judged. Fix the assembly with matte clear, which evens the sheen out and protects the paint.
