• paint small faces before assembly, as they are out of reach once glued
• choose a suitable glue according to the material of the part and follow the manufacturer's instructions
• with very small parts, work over a surface so that a lost piece can be found
• leave metal-looking surfaces matte, as a high gloss looks artificial at this scale
