1:144 Hurricane Vacu Canopy is a vacuum-formed clear cockpit canopy for a model of the Hawker Hurricane fighter in 1:144 scale, an accessory to a kit you have already bought.
Responsibility details are not available.
A vacuum-formed canopy is made by drawing thin clear film over a form. The result is a part with a wall thickness an order of magnitude thinner than injected plastic can achieve and with substantially better optical clarity. The set is cut for the Sweet kit and comes from the Czech maker Brengun. It is not an aircraft model: it is a replacement clear part for a model that you obtain separately.
The Hawker Hurricane was a single-engine fighter with a sliding cockpit canopy and a characteristic spine behind the pilot. It is on the sliding section of the canopy that the thickness of the material tells most: in 1:144 scale a plastic canopy looks like a block of glass, while vacuum-formed film reads as real glazing. A thin part also makes it possible to build the cockpit with the canopy slid back and let the interior come out.
Proceed patiently: cut the part out roughly with a generous margin first, then fill it with modeling putty or hold it with a finger and sand the seating edge on abrasive paper laid on a flat board. Short strokes, frequent dry test fitting. Once it fits, mask the frames with thin tape or with a masking set. Glue it with white glue for clear parts. If fine scratches appear on the film, they can be evened out with polishing compound and a coat of gloss varnish.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
