A pack of ten thin wooden strips of 1x4 mm section and 1000 mm long for building wooden ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ten wooden strips of 1x4 mm section and one meter long. The material is intended for building wooden ship models, where the individual strips make up the hull planking, the deck planks and the cladding of superstructures. The thin 1 mm section matches the visible layer, that is what can be seen on a finished model.
A strip is first dry-fitted and cut to length; it can be cut with a sharp blade against a metal rule, and on harder wood a fine saw is safer. For the curves of a hull the strips are bent after wetting in warm water or over steam, and the shape is held with clips or pins until the wood dries. They are bonded with PVA wood glue; wipe off the excess with a damp cloth at once, because dried glue stops stain later from soaking into the wood.
Once the cladding is finished, sand the surface with fine paper along the grain. The figure of the wood comes out after applying stain, oil or varnish; test the sample on an offcut first, because every wood soaks up differently. Store the strips lying flat so that they do not warp.
Glue, stain, varnish and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
