This miniature model of the cult Czech three-wheeler in 1:72 scale comes out as a limited edition that brings together injection-molded plastic with a set of resin parts, photoetched metal and 3D-printed components in one package. The combination of materials makes it possible to render the characteristic tubular frame and the fine details even in such a small scale, things a purely plastic kit would not offer. A clear molding for the glazing is included as well.
The Velorex is an iconic three-wheeled vehicle of Czechoslovak manufacture that became a symbol of the popular motorization of the postwar era. Its basis is a light tubular frame covered with leatherette, which gave the vehicle an unmistakable look and a low weight. It was powered by a two-stroke motorcycle engine, and thanks to its availability and easy maintenance the Velorex found its way to a broad range of drivers, often used by holders of motorcycle licenses too. Today it is among the sought-after classic vehicles and nostalgic reminders of its time.
Given the small scale and the presence of resin and photoetched parts, this is a kit for more experienced modelers. Wash the resin parts free of mold release residue before building, cut the casting blocks off carefully and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); if you sand the resin, protect your airways. Join the plastic parts with a modeling cement for plastic. Mask the clear glazing part while spraying. We recommend priming the surface and laying the subtle shades on with an airbrush; the leatherette surface of the body comes into its own with a flat varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
