Note: this is NOT a kit of the car. It is a detail set (an accessory) from the maker USCP, Ukrainian Scale Cars Production, a Ukrainian maker specializing in detail sets for car models. The set is intended for the Aston Martin DB5 kit in 1:24 scale from Revell; the model of the car itself, the glue and the paints are not included in the package and have to be bought separately. The contents of the set are a combination of resin castings, 3D printed parts and photo-etched parts, from which you build a completely new, finely worked engine and engine bay.
On a car model the engine bay is exactly what opens up and gets shown, and in a basic kit it tends to be simplified or missing altogether. A detail set gives the car a real engine, wiring, hoses and reservoirs, so that when you lift the hood there is something to show. It is precisely the difference between a built model and a competition piece. The subject is worth it: the Aston Martin DB5 is James Bond's car from the film Goldfinger (1964) and is among the most famous film cars of all.
Resin behaves differently from plastic. It does not bond with cement for polystyrene; use superglue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy. First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent so that they are rid of the mold release agent from the mold, or the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off carefully with a saw (do not snap them) and sand the surfaces wet, as resin dust is harmful to health and must not be breathed in. Apply a primer before painting. Given that the basic DB5 kit is of a simpler type, count on a dry test fit and on small adjustments to the parts.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The basic kit, the glue, the paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
