An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese coupe Mazda Cosmo Sport in 1:24 scale from the manufacturer Hasegawa. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The manufacturer issues the Cosmo Sport in more than one package, and they are set apart by an addition in the name, so compare its exact wording when choosing.
Mazda introduced the Cosmo Sport at the end of the 1960s as the first production car with a Wankel engine in its range. The two-rotor unit was exceptionally compact for its day and made a very low nose possible, which gave the car its elongated, almost spacecraft-like silhouette, to which its name also refers. The rear-wheel-drive coupe was built in small numbers and today is among the most valuable Japanese classics of all; it is precisely the cleanness of its shapes that makes it a rewarding modeling subject.
A car of the 1960s rests on chrome and clean glass. Take the clear parts out of the sprue gently, sand only the gate mark and glue them only once the finish is done, and solely with an adhesive for clear parts. Do not deal with the chromed surrounds of the windows and lights by painting the whole part silver; a cleaner result comes from thin masking tape, under which the paint will not seep, or from a line run accurately with a fine brush. Paint the body in several thin coats, sand it perfectly and polish it, because the simple areas of this shape will show every irregularity. The handles, trim and badges come last and are done with a brush on the finished body.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
