An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The real subject is the Nissan Bluebird of the U12 generation, a four-door sedan in the sporting SSS-Attesa Limited form, in the early version and with an added spoiler on the trunk lid. It is precisely the spoiler that sets this boxing apart from otherwise close releases of the same body, so it is good to watch this detail when choosing.
The Nissan Bluebird of the U12 generation is a mid-size four-door sedan from the end of the nineteen-eighties with the engine mounted transversely at the front. The sporting form designated SSS received a forced-induction engine and a firmer suspension, while the additional Attesa designation refers to the all-wheel-drive system with which Nissan equipped its more powerful models at the time. The car appeared in domestic rally and circuit competitions as well and is among the typically angular Japanese sedans of its day. The early version differs from the later one in details of the front and the rear.
On an angular body of the nineteen-eighties every unevenness of the edges stands out, so sand the parting lines down carefully, so as not to round the edges off. After filler primer and wet sanding, spray the paint in several thin layers; rich period shades are well suited by gloss varnish and a fine polishing. Deal with the chromed trim and the window frames by masking and metallic paint or with thin chrome foil, as it shows well on the sharp edges of a sedan. Fit the spoiler on the trunk lid only after the body has been painted and polished, otherwise it is hard to work around it. Finish the interior, the chassis and the wheels separately and complete the assembly only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
